Sat. Nov. 28, 1909 My Dear Ruth: - I have fully recovered from the effects of thanksgiving and feel fit for school again altho I do hate to leave home again. I have been having a real good time since I got here. There wasnt anything doing here Tuesday or Wednesday except bumming down town. Thursday the fellows gave a dance at Perrins Hall. I didnt go. I guess there were about nine (9) couples there. Al and Adele didnt go but I dont know why. They were together Friday the Salt boat came in. Albert Hall worked on it until six oclock but he had a date for the Basket Ballgame and dance at Perrins so he quit work at six oclock. I wasnt as lucky as he and had to work until eight oclock so I missed seeing the B.B. game. I went to the dance tho. Had a dance with Adele, Helen M., Evelyn, Marguerite D. and wanted one with Orpah but didnt get around to it. I sat out the first dance with you but wait until Christmas and then will dance it. That is of course if you are willing. It seemed good to be on the slippery floor again and only one thing was lacking. I will bet you can guess it in three guesses. I forgot to tell you that Thursday afternoon I took the whole family out for a ride. The roads were quite muddy but we got along all right until we struck out west of Zion City. There the roads were just one mass of this sticky black mud. They kept getting worse and worse until finally we had to take to the fields. We went over four miles on low speed. The machine was a perfect sight. When I got home Tuesday father told me that he hadnt touched a tire for two months and the first thing I did when I went riding was to put a nail thru the tire. I worked all day Wednesday Friday and to-day. To night Al and I took a ride out around Zion City all by our lonesome. Again something was lacking. I didnt finish this letter last night because it was so late. Of course I wasnt sleepy. I havent been out of the house yet today and it is Sunday 2:30 P.M. I have been getting ready to go back. I dont believe I told you that Evelyn and Adele were not on speaking terms for a whole two weeks. It all came about thru a dispute over a man named Paskin or something like that whom Orpah has a crush on. He is a Lake Forest fellow. Orpah is so Daffy over him that she has to advertise the fact at least she told me so twice in one eve. Adele said that she (Adele) and Evelyn had a dispute over him and became angry but Evelyn told me an altogether different story. She said that Adele was mad because she (Evelyn) would not go to see Ben Hur with her. Do you understand all that. I bet you dont. My sister went to Ben Hur last night and she said it was great. I saw your brother yesterday. Let me congratulate you having a sister. I didnt know it until day before yesterday. Ned looked as tho married life was alright. It is about time for me to leave town now so I will have to ring off. Most Sincerely Yours, Homer Al M. said he was waiting for you to give him your address. I gave it to him but he said that I didnt count. Al is busy this year. He is Manager of Flashlight Editor of Annual Manager of Foot Ball Captain of Basket Ball and something else I have forgotten. I saw Evelyn and Adele together yesterday so apparently they are chums again.
